My speech

Hands up those of you who have a pet at home? (Wait 4 also for people to put hands up)
Ok hands down - How cool would it be to bring your pet to school with you each day? Doesn’t that sound like fun? (Wait of 2s)
My name is Lee and I believe we should be able to bring pets to school and I am going to give you some good reasons why you should agree with me.

Firstly having a pet at school  is not a new idea...Many classes have class pets.  Having a class pet is a great experience for kids because children can learn about their class pet, it teaches them responsibility and develops a love of animals. For example, if we had a class pet and we learnt how to look after it, we could look after our pets at home as well. It would also teach us to tidy up after ourselves and keep a clean and tidy house.

Secondly, having a class pet can motivate us with our learning. For example we can draw, describe it, write about, how to look after it, what to feed it and how they behave. We could start a class blog or diary written from the pets point of view. We could get books from the library about our class pet so we know even more about how to look after it and keep it happy. The teacher could use the class pet as a reward for good behaviour and learning. If a child is doing really well in class - they can have some play time with the class pet or even take it home for the weekend.

Finally a class pet can fix a lot of problems like if we’ve sad we could cuddle them, if you’re lonely you can play with them if you’re feeling unwell - they can comfort you. Pets can also be very funny to watch as they often do funny things like making funny sounds

Overall, I have shared with you all of my ideas. Now don’t you agree that every class should have a pet? Well  I do. You should too! So come on, persuade your principal to let your class have a pet, you won’t regret it!.

My book review

‘Hippos can swim’, written by Pablo Bernasconi is an  adventurous and humorous story.

The author wrote a story that has important messages, such as never give up, attempted challenge. He wants the readers to understand that everyone ( or animal ) is good at something The illustration are colourful creative and cute.

The story is about a hippo that doesn't want to swim. Instead he tries to find another activity to do he tries to do the same activities as lots of different animals. Which activity will he succeed at? Read the book to find out.

My favourite part was watch the hippos trying all of the different activities.

Yes, we liked the the book because some parts were humorous and the illustrations were bright and colourful. We also liked how the hippo preserved and faced challenges bravely.

Overall,In my opinion you agree that hippos can swim is worth a read I give it a 4½.

Turtle writing

                                              Turtle writing
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
One smart and powerful turtle is very brave. Its shell is as powerful as a house and its flippers are like a bird’s wings.  The plants are really colourful………..red, orange, yellow, green, blue and purple, rainbow colours that are very vibrant.
If you dive into the water, you can hear the waves crash and the turtle’s flippers slapping hard. You can hear the big, strong sea trees waving up at the turtle you can also see coals from down below.

The water is not deep but the sea is as blue as the never ending sky. The water is very warm, it’s beautiful and it’s very relaxing.
